ARA West Regional Championship Gets Boost with Addition of Rally Nevada

Speedway, Ind. (January 30, 2020) ~ The call for more American Rally Association events on the Western Regional Championship calendar has been answered as ARA officials are pleased to announce the addition of Rally Nevada to the 2020 schedule. The event will be held as a one-day regional on Saturday, April 4.

This year’s rally will be based out of Tonopah, a mining town that sits halfway between Las Vegas and Reno. Rally Nevada will feature 87 stage miles sprayed across two gravel dirt stage roads divided into eight stages. Elevation will play a key role in the event, as Tonopha sits in the high deserts of Esmeralda County, a region that features rugged mountains, vast plains and altitudes reaching more than 7,000 feet. For the organizers, this year’s event is a great start to future growth and planning.

Rally Nevada was formed in 2019 to reintroduce the sport to a region that was once a popular spot for rally enthusiasts, but hasn’t seen an organized event since the Seed 9 Rally was cancelled following 2015. In the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, the Frontier Rally Nevada was also stop on the national tour.

“As an organizer, it has been a privilege to bring back a small part of rally history and become part of the American Rally Association series,” said Rally Nevada Organizer Denise McMahon. “Tonopah was a major part of the rally in the 1980’s, and all of us on the organizing committee, along with the Bureau of Land Management and the town of Tonopah are grateful to see this event become part of the region.”

While the rally will be held over the course of one day, it will include a Parc Expose and spectator areas. Additional information regarding recce, registration and accommodation will be made available in the coming days. Registration is expected to open in February. More information can be found at www.rallynevada.com or on the ARA website at Rally Nevada.
