STPR Cancels 2020 Event Due to COVID-19 Concerns

SPEEDWAY, IND. ~ The American Rally Association, along with organizers for the 2020 Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally are sad to announce the cancellation of this year’s event.

STPR officials made the decision earlier this week after new quarantine orders were placed in several states throughout the region. Those orders, along with current restrictions in Pennsylvania, made it difficult for the popular national event to proceed this September.

“Without the permits needed to run on public roads, I don’t see a way to put on an event to the caliber of what our competitors, sponsors and fans expect from STPR,” said James Monks, STPR Chairman. “We did not come to this decision easily. However, we think this is the correct option for our event, participants, and our extremely supportive communities in which we race.”

All options were exhausted in an effort to create a safe environment and an atmosphere that the ARA hoped would bring respite from the current climate that surrounds the outbreak of COVID-19. There are no formal plans to reschedule the event in 2020, rather a renewed focus on the planning of STPR for next year.

The ARA will reopen its 2020 national schedule on July 18 with a one-day Southern Ohio Forest Rally (SOFR). That event, along with the Ojibwe Forests Rally (August), Show-Me Rally (October), Lake Superior Performance Rally (October) and Olympus Rally (November) and last January’s Sno*Drift sets the national schedule at six events this year.
