Rally has deep roots in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, going back over 75 years. In 1949 a Time-Speed-Distance rally called Press on Regardless (POR) started up and in 1969, became a stage rally event. For the 1973 and 1974 seasons, POR was a round of the World Rally Championship. In 1994, the very first Lake Superior Performance Rally was founded as POR returned to its TSD roots, running on many of the same roads that have been used over the years.  For 2026, 5 of the 8 stages feature roads used in the 1974 event!

For decades, LSPR has been the ultimate round on the American rally circuit, the final event of the National Championship. Traditionally held in October, fall foliage provides a colorful backdrop to the rally's gravel stages. Based in Marquette, Michigan, LSPR is a world-renowned event and a favorite for many, and a perfect way to end the rally season.  The weather provides an interesting variable too; sunshine, rain, dust, mud, and snow are all possibilities at this dynamic event... sometimes on the same day!
