LaPorte, Ind. ~ After several attempts thwarted by a pandemic and even snow, the Headwaters Rally in Northern Minnesota made a triumphant return on Saturday.

The 40-mile American Rally Association Central Regional Championship event has been a mainstay in the rally world. It is operated by the same group that organizes the Ojibwe Forest Rally each year, and the event is a staple for the Minnesota rally community.

Fifteen cars trekked to the land of Paul Bunyan and the rippling waterways that start the mighty Mississippi River. Six stages were packed into a tight Saturday afternoon schedule. When the two loops were finished, John and Peter Farrow (L4WD) stood atop the overall standings.

It was an extremely tight rally, with the Farrow's squeaking out a two-second win over Tyler Matalas and Dustin Sharkozy (NA4WD). Levi Johnson and Matthew Nykanen pushed their 1986 BMW 325 to third overall and the top O2WD spot. John Wolf and Boyd Smith were the top-finishing L2WD.

The Headwaters Rally group will now focus on August's Ojibwe Forest Rally, round seven of the ARA's Green APU National Rally Championship on August 25-26, 2023.
